Bureau Veritas Marine and Offshore has awarded approval in principle (AIP) for a new type of hydrogen fuel cell generator manufactured by Energy Observer Developments (EODev).

The AIP follows an in-depth examination of compliance with the standard recently published by Bureau Veritas, applicable to the use of fuel cells on board ships.

The generator is an improvement of an earlier EODev design. New features include integration of a cooling and power management system and a comprehensive safety system, enabling more flexibility for shipyards and naval architects to consider the use of the generator into existing vessels and less constraints for its integration into new projects.
