GEAR | Future Belgian and Dutch minehunters to feature integrated power and distribution systems

Damen Naval has chosen ABB to supply its proprietary integrated power and distribution systems to a new class of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates.

Damen Naval is building four frigates: two for the Royal Netherlands Navy and two for the Belgian Navy.

For the ASW frigates, the power and distribution systems will include energy storage, transformers, motors, and generators. The arrangement will ensure reduced emissions and an increased operational range even under harsh environments and conditions.
