GEAR | Fischer Panda unveils new electric pod motor for small commercial vessels

Fischer Panda UK has introduced a new electric pod motor optimised for smaller commercial applications such as general purpose workboats, fishing boats, and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs).

The pod motor, which offers reduced noise and emissions, is available in two versions depending on the voltage, increasing the potential for different battery set-ups and offering the choice of a 24V solution in pod format.

The versions include a 1.7kW pod with 2,300 rpm  (24 V) and a 3.8kW pod with 3,000 rpm (48 V). Either version features water cooling, a stainless steel housing, a three-blade Yamaha propeller, single push-button starting, and a stepless power control. The latter allows the boat’s speed to be easily regulated in addition to making it possible to switch between forward and reverse without shifting gears.
