GEAR | ABB to supply power and propulsion package for Norwegian hybrid live fish carrier

FISHING/AQUACULTURE WEEK

ABB has secured a contract with Turkey’s Sefine Shipyard to provide a power and propulsion package for FrøyGruppen’s new hybrid live fish carrier.

Designed by Møre Maritime, the live fish carrier will be fitted with ABB’s proprietary distribution system which will help optimise energy use, whether drawing on main engine power, energy storage power or a combination of the two.

The power setup on board will be managed by ABB’s integrated power and energy management system (PEMS), which will ensure optimal use of the vessel’s total power resources.

The package will also include ABB’s remote diagnostic system to further enhance the vessel’s operational safety as well as ensure optimal performance while helping promptly detect and correct faults on board.
