French police unit the Gendarmerie Nationale has taken delivery of the first four in a series of 11 new patrol boats designed by Camarc and built by Ufast.
The UFC 11.00 Alu is powered by twin Yanmar 6 LPA STP engines, coupled to twin Ultra Dynamics' UltraJet UJ305s waterjets via ZF63 reduction gearboxes. Reverse and steering is via an Ultra Dynamics hydro-mechanical control system. During sea trials the patrol boat reached a speed of 34 knots.
Featuring a hard-chine deep V-shaped hull, the newly designed vessel 11-metre combines high performance and exceptional sea keeping for its patrolling roles. The boat features a wheelhouse with full 360-degree visibility, complete with a mini galley, work station, dinette and toilet, enabling six people to cruise comfortably.
With new features for monitoring and intervention, the patrol boat will survey the French coasts against all kinds of criminal activity, including drugs, terrorism and illegal immigration. Its twin UltraJets mean the boat is will equipped in the event of high-speed chases.
The remaining seven patrol boats, each fitted with UltraJets, will be delivered by the end of June.
