United States: Dann Marine Towing maintains their fleet of 17 tugs in an exemplary state of readiness. The firm operates out of their base in Chesapeake City, Maryland and tows along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts as well as to South and Central America.

Maintaining and building a good fleet requires upgrading and re-powering. Dann Marine has recently put their 30.5 by 9.7-metre tug 'Gulf Coast' back into service following a major refit that included swapping out a pair of a competitor's 895kW engines in favour of a pair of 1,193kW Cummins QSK50 engines.

The repower involved modifications to the engine foundations and cooling system all of which was carried out at the Lyon Shipyard in Norfolk, Virginia.

The ABS load-lined model bow tug is fitted with an Intercon DD200 towing winch loaded with 609 metres of cable and 92.4 metres of wire. It carries tanks for 308,075 litres of fuel and 19,941 litres of potable water.
