Aussie Pumps has released a new high-performance marine pump called the Aussie Lifesaver.

Capable of operating off a 12- or 24-volt DC power system, the pump is derived from Aussie Pumps' Aussie Seamaster range of portable diesel drive pumps. According to the company, the Seamaster is widely used in naval applications around the world, as both a salvage pump and portable fire pump for use at sea.

"The Aussie Lifesaver has been designed to be suitable for salvage and rescue work in lifeboats, launches and leisure craft," said the company.

"It owes its unique seawater compatibility to the materials of construction. All wet-end components, including the body, back plate, volute and impeller, are manufactured from strong 30 per cent glass-filled polyester. Meanwhile, the seals and gaskets are compatible with both seawater and diesel fuel."

The pump's impeller is an open design, capable of passing small solids in suspension. A heavy-duty Leeson 60Hz motor provides power, with 50Hz motor options also available.

"The pump is designed to self-prime and has a total maximum lift of 6.8 metres," said Aussie Pumps. "Flows of up to 378 litres per minute are available, enabling the Lifesaver to perform very adequate duties as for salvage or bilge applications. All of the pump fittings are stainless steel, and the Aussie Lifesaver is neat and compact, with both pump and close-coupled motor mounted on a substantial poly base."

Connection to a DC power source is simple, concluded Aussie Pumps, with the company warning that pumps should not be used for pumping unleaded petrol or gasoline, and that the motor must be grounded for safe operation.
