Merlin Equipment has launched a new range of pure-sinewave inverters, for converting onboard battery power to 230V alternating current mains electricity.

Inverters enable the use of mains-based equipment such as computers or microwaves on boats, without the need of mains hook-up or a generator. Using the latest power-conversion techniques, Merlin's new M-Power range is significantly smaller and lighter than older designs. Moreover, with a pure-sinewave output, the range is compatible with all appliances, including the most sensitive equipment, allowing crisp, interference-free operation of televisions, computers and audio equipment. According to Merlin, the life of appliances with built-in motors like fridges or power tools, won't be shortened (as they would with modified-sinewave Inverters they will) and those with timers operate correctly.

All units feature overload, overheat and high-input voltage protection, and will automatically switch off to prevent battery damage if the input voltage runs too low. M-Power inverters provide a display showing battery voltage, wattage draw and inverter status. In the event of the unit shutting down, fault codes are displayed allowing quick and easy fault rectification.  M-Power inverters are available in 700, 1400 and 2000 watt continuous outputs,. All will surge to many times their continuous rating to aid running loads with high start-up demand. An optional remote panel is also available.
