Kongsberg Maritime has won a contract to provide simulators for navigation and DP training for Tromsø Maritime in Norway. These will enable the school to meet new Nautical Institute guidelines for DP operator training and certification.
Kongsberg will supply one main Polaris Ship's Bridge simulator (DNV class B), which can offer a wide range of training scenarios including ice-navigation and oil spills emergencies. In addition, the company will provide three smaller ship's bridge simulators, four K-Pos DP basic trainers (limited-task simulators) and a DP 2 advanced trainer (multi-task simulators). These will be interfaced with the main simulator for manoeuvring and DP advanced training. The school's existing Kongsberg Maritime Neptune Engine Room simulator can also be integrated with the Polaris navigation and DP training simulators to enable environmental research and team training.
