HELMEPA launches new marine incident reporting platform

The Hellenic Maritime Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) has launched a new online platform for shipping companies to report incidents and near-misses from their vessels.

The Voluntary Incident Reporting Platform (VIRP) will allow companies to report incidents that could have very serious consequences and to do so under complete anonymity.

HELMEPA hopes that, through the sharing of lessons learned, similar mistakes and incidents could be avoided in future. The expansion of the platform in the coming years is planned to include accidents and incidents of fishing vessels and recreational boats.

The VIRP was developed by HELMEPA in collaboration with Dynamarine.
