Swiss energy meters manufacturer Aquametro has partnered with Diesel Switch MKII from Jowa Technology in Sweden to present the first change over unit approved from Germanischer Lloyd.
Since introduction of the MARPOL regulations it will become necessary to switch over to fuel oil qualities with limited sulphur content. When vessels are operating in emission control areas (ECAs), national authorities are regulating that vessels are only burning fuel with actual permitted sulphur limits.
Fuel can be blended onboard with Diesel Switch MKII. The Diesel Switch MKII is equipped with a three-way blending valve, which adjusts fuel ratio of HFO and MDO/MGO in relation to set value controlled by a logic controller.
Furthermore there are manual and pneumatic valves, temperature and pressure sensors and the logic controller with touch screen display, which controls the switch over process.
Each complete mounted unit will be tested before installation on board.
The logic controller regulates even and permissible temperature, controls and monitors fuel temperature in relation to viscosity, lowest permissible viscosity, and guarantees the blending procedure in order that valid limits of sulphur content are adjusted and stored in special history file.
