Markey Machinery introduces new dual-purpose hydraulic winch

Markey Machinery, USA, has announced the release of the new DYSDS-52WF-250MT dual-purpose hydraulic winch. One of these winches is due for installation on a Voith-Schneider tug owned and operated by Edison Chouest Offshore, USA.

The winch boasts an anchor-handling drum and a ship-assist / escort drum arranged in a waterfall configuration.  

The anchor-handling lower drum features four hydraulic motors in a modular, removable gearbox for ease of maintenance and is capable of 250-tonne of line-pull and line-speeds up to 22 metres per minute.  

The escort drum is powered by two additional hydraulic motors and is capable of 10.3-tonnes of line-pull and speeds up to 85 metres per minute.  

The escort drum is also fitted with Markey's exclusive hydraulic Render / Recover system for ease of manoeuvrability during operations, as well as Markey's exclusive high-speed freewheel mode for safety.
