Scotland: ACE Winches has completed a GBP4.2 million (US$ 6.7 million) winch package for Superior Energy Services, based in Houston, delivering on schedule from its Towie Barclay Works headquarters near Turriff, Aberdeenshire.
The order comprises the design and manufacture of four ACE 100-tonne WLL electric double drum winches with drive clutch selection, electrically driven 100-tonne capacity over spooling winches, complete with local ACE control stands; eight ACE fixed upper turn down sheaves; eight ACE Sliding Travelling Fairleads and four ACE Electro Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs). The ABS certified winches are built to withstand the severest of conditions in the Arctic where they will eventually be deployed.
ACE employs 240 people around the world, with 180 located at Towie Barclay. The company is constructing a four-acre facility within the campus for the load testing up to 800 tonnes and mobilisation of winching equipment. A new warehouse will be operational from May 2012.
