Norwegian Coastal Administration seals radar deal

Kongsberg Norcontrol has signed a framework agreement with the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) for delivery, operations and maintenance of radars for its maritime traffic service.

The agreement for up to 11 years has a potential value of up to NOK250 million (US$31.3 million).

The NCA has 23 radars monitoring traffic in five service areas.

Kongsberg Norcontrol President Per-Erik Kristoffersen said the agreement includes an expansion by 2022 in western Norway, where the service area from Fedje to Kristiansund will be included.

In addition to maintenance and renewal of radars, Kongsberg Norcontrol will deliver new radars from 2018 to 2027 including the Stad ship tunnel if it is built.
