Global Eagle lands Swire Seabed connectivity deal

Global Eagle Entertainment has signed a three-year agreement with Norwegian subsea company Swire Seabed to provide connectivity for the multi-purpose offshore vessel, Seabed Constructor.

Global Eagle’s Senior Vice-President Maritime Ole Sivertsen said the connectivity services, which were installed in Durban, South Africa in January, include C-band VSAT solution with BW and Iridium backup, crew welfare with personal log-in, entertainment and live TV.

Seabed Constructor is on a long-term charter to Ocean Infinity, which is trying to locate the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.

The passenger plane is believed to have crashed in the Southern Indian Ocean in 2014 with 239 people onboard.
