UK: Macduff Shipyards has completed 'Excel' BF110 for Derek and John Watt. The vessel will operate from Fraserburgh through Caley Fisheries.

The vessel is arranged as a twin-rig prawn/whitefish trawler, and is a repeat of the 'Ellor ah', which Macduff delivered in July 2009.

The vessel has an overall length of 18.95 metres, a beam of seven metres and a moulded depth of four metres. Displacing 174 tonnes, the vessel has an oil fuel capacity of 19,000 litres and a fresh water capacity of 7,750 litres.

The hull form is double chine with transom stern, bulbous bow, and with a box type ballast keel.

Macduff Profilers, a division of Macduff Shipyards, cut the steel kit from cutting information supplied by Macduff Ship Design, and fabrication of the hull was sub-contracted to Richards Dry Dock and Engineering in Great Yarmouth.

The hull was then towed to Macduff for machinery installation and fitting out.

The aluminium alloy wheelhouse and shelterdeck were fabricated and fitted in Macduff.

The steel deckhouse is fitted rail to the rail athwartships and is weathertight along with the forward deckshelter space. Aft of the deckhouse the deckshelter is continued to the transom and is non-weathertight.

The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6A3 MPTK rated 379kw at 1,840rpm with a Reintjes WAF274L reverse reduction gearbox with 7.043:1 reduction ratio, driving an 1,800mm diameter four-blade Kort propeller in a Kort XL fixed nozzle.

A Mitsubishi 6D16T auxiliary engine is arranged on the port side to drive the hydraulic pumps for the deck machinery. This engine is heat exchanger cooled and is rated 125kW. It is also arranged to drive a 46kw 415/3/50 generator.

The generator set is fitted on the starboard side of the engineroom and is a Mitsubishi S6SDT with a 46kw 415/3/50 generator.

The main engine and the generator set are keel cooled with Fernstrum gridcoolers supplied by Kort Propulsion.
