Hangzhou Qianhang Shipbuilding Repair has handed over China Fisheries Administration 33036 (中国渔政33036; Zhongguo Yuzheng 33036), a patrol boat built for coastal enforcement, maritime administration and emergency response under the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA).

The has an overall length of 34 metres (110 feet) and a displacement of approximately 100 tonnes. Her equipment includes a roll reduction system, a high-speed working boat designed for rapid launch and recovery, and onboard communications and enforcement systems capable of supporting joint operations.

China Fisheries Administration 33036 is intended to undertake coastal patrol and supervision, pollution prevention duties and monitoring vessel traffic, particularly in Zhejiang province in eastern China. As with other MARA fisheries enforcement vessels, she was built from the outset to have multi-role capability, allowing her to operate independently or assist other agencies as needed.

Emergency response was also included in the operational brief. The boat was built to be able to assist vessels in distress, with shore–ship coordination supporting the handling of incidents at sea.

Capable of fulfilling command and control functions

The onboard systems combine communications, automation, information technology and specialised law-enforcement equipment.

Qianhang Shipbuilding said these allow the vessel to serve as a joint maritime enforcement command platform, supporting coordinated operations involving the ship, her crew, and shore-based personnel.

The embarked high-speed working boat provides a separate small platform to enable the patrol vessel’s crew to conduct at-sea interceptions and boardings.

Qianhang Shipbuilding described the completed vessel as having satisfactory speed, manoeuvrability and seakeeping, and she has been described as the fastest 100-tonne-class vessel in China's fisheries administration system, having achieved 23.5 knots during her sea trials.

Capability proven during actual operations

China Fisheries Administration 33036 is currently assigned to the Cangnan detachment of the Zhejiang Marine Fisheries Enforcement Corps.

The vessel even participated in recent preparations to move local fishing vessels to shelter in anticipation of an approaching typhoon.

Cangnan organised fishing vessels into groups for passage to the Fuding refuge anchorage in neighbouring Fujian province. The detachment planned to send the new patrol vessel with the groups and maintain a 24-hour presence at the anchorage, being ready to respond immediately if a fishing vessel is in need of emergency assistance.
