This month's focus on the global fishing and aquaculture industries once again covers a broad geographical scope. New vessels are now operational in regions that include Western Europe, North and South America, and the Far East.
Of particular interest are two newly built non-self-propelled platforms in China. Both vessels were developed to prove the concept of offshore fish farming, and to prove that such platforms can also serve adequately in other sectors such as marine research and tourism.
Readers are assured that the ever-important fishing and aquaculture industries continue to be covered regularly in the news stories, vessel reviews, and other feature articles on Baird Maritime.
– "When our small animal diving excursion was over, the instructor turned to me and said 'That was a pretty dumb thing to do.'"
– by Bob Iversen, retired Hawaii fishery biologist and former US Navy officer
– "Vietnam's 2017 Fisheries Law, however, has been criticised for its weak deterrence, with penalties for IUU fishing much lower than those of neighbouring countries."
– by Thu Nguyen Hoang Anh, graduate student at the European University Institute
