Russian shipyard to get upgraded outfitting facilities
Saint Petersburg-based Admiralty Shipyards, a company under Russia's state-owned United Shipbuilding Corporation, will have one of its deepwater outfitting embankments upgraded to expand the facility's shipbuilding and maintenance capacities.
The project will be done in three stages and will cover a total area of 21,823 square metres. The outfitting embankment itself, where large blocks and structures are assembled while in the water, will cover approximately 4,445 square metres.
The embankment will be expanded through the addition of new sections with a total length of 275 metres. The depth will be lowered to 12 metres, which will then make it possible for large vessels to safely be transported to the nearby Neva River.
An additional alluvial area covering 700 square metres will also be developed.
The first stage will also involve construction of a data processing centre, a water pumping station, transformer substations, and warehouses. The second stage will meanwhile entail construction of additional sections of the outfitting embankment.
