Vard has completed conducting sea trials of a new stern and pelagic trawler ordered by Havbryn, a fishing company based in Norway's Vesterålen archipelago.
The vessel, which is also named Havbryn, will be outfitted for semi-pelagic and bottom-trawling operations with gentle handling to meet the latest demands for fish health management, efficiency, and environment-friendly operations.
The trawler has a length of 80.4 metres, a beam of 16.7 metres, and a factory capable of producing cut gutted fish as well as fish meal and oil.
The vessel's hull has been strengthened in compliance with ice class 1A requirements.
A cargo space will hold both refrigerated and frozen products while ensilage tanks will be fitted for processing of biomass ashore, further maximising resource utilisation.
The crew accommodation spaces include cabins, a day room, a mess, and a gym.
Havbryn will replace a similarly named vessel that was delivered to the same owner in 2013.
The trawler was also designed in-house by Vard.
