Sea trials completed for new Russian crab boat
Okskaya Shipyard in Russia has completed conducting the final series of sea trials of a new crab fishing vessel ordered by the Russian Crab Group of Companies.
Kapitan Skovpen is the final one of three crab fishing vessels to be built under Project CCa5712P. Earlier sister vessels Kapitan Manzholin and Kapitan Dudnik have since been handed over to the customer.
Kapitan Skovpen's trials were undertaken in the Gulf of Finland on Saturday, April 26. The delivery team assessed the performance of the various onboard systems and machinery as well as the vessel's own manoeuvrability and seaworthiness.
The Project CCa5712P vessels are classed by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and are designed for operation even under extreme conditions in the Bering Sea, the Sea of Okhotsk, the Sea of Japan, and other waters off Russia's Far East. This will enable them to sail out on fewer fishing trips to satisfy quota requirements.
