Mowi Scotland sells trout farming business to new company
Inverness, Scotland-based SeaQureFarming Group, a company that was founded recently by the Gael Force Group's Managing Director Stewart Graham, has acquired Mowi Scotland's Dawnfresh Farming trout harvesting business.
Following the transaction, Dawnfresh will form part of SeaQureFarming's trout harvesting operations, which will utilise a new type of semi-closed containment farming system developed by the Gael Force Group.
The SeaQureFarming Group operates as a separate entity from Gael Force.
Dawnfresh will retain its existing operations and 20-strong workforce and additional roles will also be created. Whilst still under Mowi, its trout farming operations were not integrated with the parent company's salmon harvesting activities.
SeaQureFarming's activities have now been expanded with the acquisition of the Dawnfresh-operated hatcheries near Montrose and Auchterarder and a net pen farms at Loch Earn. The company will also have access to the net pen farm at Loch Ailort, which continues to be operated by Mowi.
David MacGillivray, a former regional manager with Mowi, will help supervise trout farming operations.
Dawnfresh Farming was acquired by Mowi in 2023 after parent company Dawnfresh Seafoods entered administration.
