Climate hypocrite Leonardo di Caprio wades into Australian salmon farming debate
Hollywood's woke-scold-in-chief Leonardo di Caprio took a break from flying around the world in his private jet to lecture Australians on conservation following yesterday's embarrassing spectacle where Greens senator Lydia Thorpe bought a dead fish to parliament.
The Australian Senate was debating a bill that would safeguard successful salmon farms in the state of Tasmania from environmental activist anti-development pressure, using an obscure species of skate for cover.
"This week the Australian Government will decide the fate of Macquarie Harbor and has an opportunity to shut down destructive industrial non-native salmon farms, protecting the Maugean Skate," di Caprio posted on social media.
"This shallow estuary off the Tasmanian coast is one of the most important places in the world - now designated as a key biodiversity area - which means it’s essential for the planet’s overall health and the persistence of biodiversity."
The bill is expected to pass in the final days of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's government ahead of a general election due by May, following Labor Party infighting on the issue.
