Recent newbuild deliveries include four boats for customers in Scotland, Norway, Spain, Argentina. An order has also been placed for a new Norwegian trawler/seiner to be built by a Danish shipyard.

Tromso fishers take delivery of locally-built netting boat

Tromso, Norway-based father-and-daughter fishers Roy-Tore and Ronja Pedersen have taken delivery of a new netting boat built by local company Jemar Norpower.

Auvaer measures 13 by 4.45 metres and is fitted with a 30-cubic-metre midships fish room. Accommodation spaces include three cabins, a bathroom, a shower, and a galley/mess area.

Power is provided by a Scania DI13 main engine driving a Nogva four-bladed propeller.

Argentine-built trawler handed over to Spanish shrimp fishing company

Cabo Virgenes, a Spanish shrimp fishing and export company, recently welcomed a newbuild trawler to its fleet.

Aton will be operated primarily in the waters off Argentina, where it will be used to catch red shrimp. Construction took place at Astillero Rio Parana Sur in Buenos Aires province.

The 26.57-metre newbuild has a 142-cubic-metre refrigerated fish room, a Mitsubishi main engine delivering a speed of 9.5 knots, and accommodations for a 14-strong crew.

Argentina’s Aquellos Tres to operate new shrimp trawler in Patagonian waters

Argentine fishing company Aquellos Tres will soon begin operational sailings of a new pelagic and bottom trawler built by local shipyard Astillero Federico Contessi y Cia.

The 21-metre-long Carlos Luis is optimised for catching red shrimp in Patagonian waters in southern Argentina.
The newbuild has refrigerated and ice storage facilities and Berycar winches and deck equipment. The propulsion setup includes a Yanmar 6AYAM-ET main engine, two Cummins 6CTA-G2GD1 auxiliary engines, and a Sleipner bow thruster.

New twin-rigger delivered to Fraserburgh brothers

Parkol Marine Engineering has delivered a new twin-rig trawler to brothers Chaz and Martin Bruce of Fraserburgh, Scotland.

The 22.2-metre Day Dawn replaces a 19-metre twin-rigger that has been in operation with the brothers since delivery by Parkol in 2010.

The newbuild is built to a design by SC McAllister. The fishroom has capacity for 700 boxes while the fishing equipment includes winches, trawls, net drums, and a landing crane from Faithlie Trawls, Jackson Trawls, Seaquest Systems, and Karl Thomsen.

Norwegian operator taps Danish yard for new pelagic trawler

Norwegian fishing company Rogne has awarded Danish shipyard Karstensens Skibsværft a contract for the construction of a new pelagic trawler for catching blue whiting.

The vessel, which will also be named Rogne, will replace a Karstensens-built trawler that has been in the same owner’s fleet since 2013. Delivery is scheduled for July 2025.

The vessel will also have purse seining capability for catching mackerel and herring.
