Ozata Shipyard in Turkey has delivered a new purse seiner/trawler ordered by Norwegian fishing company Vea Fiskeri.

Built to a design by Norwegian naval architecture firm Sawicon, Vea has a length of 67.6 metres, a beam of 14.5 metres, and steel/aluminium construction. A Caterpillar-MaK 8M32C main engine with a rated output of 4,000 kW at 600 rpm drives a Brunvoll 4,100mm controllable-pitch propeller via a Scana Volda ACG 850/PS680 gearbox. Auxiliary power is available in the form of a Scania DI16 75M engine and a Stamford HCM634G2 engine. A Kongsberg Maritime steering system and Brunvoll stern and bow thrusters are also fitted.

The vessel’s RSW tanks have a total capacity of 1,700 cubic metres. The vessel has a production and monitoring system from MMC First Process. All the deck machinery including the cranes comes as part of a complete package from Karmoy Winch, which also supplied some of the fishing equipment.

The wheelhouse electronics include a Zenitel intercom, a Consilium fire alarm system, and Furuno radars. Maritime Montering was responsible for the interior spaces, which are kept comfortable with the aid of a Teknotherm HVAC. Tranberg supplied the bridge navigation lights while Luminell provided the searchlights and floodlights and Glamox installed the rest of the vessel’s interior and exterior lighting. The vessel is also equipped with firefighting gear from Survitec.

Vea was built according to DNV class rules and complies with Norwegian Maritime Directorate rules and regulations for fishing vessels. It is the fifth vessel to bear the same name in the Vea Fiskeri fleet and replaces a similarly named, 2004-built vessel.
