Tersan to build factory trawler for Russia’s Pacific Fishery Company

Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard has been awarded a contract to build a new factory trawler for Pacific Fishery Company of Magadan, Russia.

The Skipsteknisk-designed, 90- by 18-metre vessel will be equipped for pelagic and semi-pelagic trawling of Alaska pollock in the Sea of Okhotsk as well as herring, mackerel, and pollock in Pacific waters. Equipment will include two main trawl winches working in combination with ice trawl gallows and two large pelagic combined sweep line net drums.

There will be an advanced pollock factory installed onboard the vessel. In addition, pelagic lines will be installed, where herring and mackerel will be filleted or round frozen.

The vessel will have a freezing capacity of 250 tonnes per day and a processing capacity of 110 tonnes per day.

Accommodations will be for 111 personnel including crew and fish factory technicians.

The trawler will also be capable of operations in Arctic waters.

Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023.
