Pella Shipyard lays keel for Project 1701 freezer trawlers

Russia’s Pella Shipyard has conducted a keel-laying ceremony for two medium-sized refrigerator trawlers of Project 1701 for Murmansk-based companies Eridan and Strelets.

Designed for bottom and pelagic fishing and on-board fish processing, the 61.0-metre vessels, with 12.7-metre beams and 5.9-metre draughts, have a fish hold capacity of 1,200 cubic metres.

Catering for a crew of 38, the 2,800-tonne displacement vessels have an operating speed of 13.5 knots and endurance of 30 days.
