Özata scores three newbuilding contracts from Norwegian owners

Nye Radek’s future trawler/seiner to be built by Özata Shipyard

Turkey’s Özata Shipyard has been awarded three new contracts for various fishing vessels with different buyers from Norway.

The first contract is for a 48.6- by 12.6-metre Kongsberg Maritime-designed combination pelagic trawler, purse seiner, and Danish seiner (pictured) for Nye Radek. The vessel will be built according to Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) rules and is scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2021.

The second is for a 67.6-metre Sawicon-designed trawler/purse seiner slated for delivery to VEA in the third quarter of 2021. The vessel will be built according to DNV-GL class +1A1, E0, Fishing Vessel, and shall comply with Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) rules and regulations for fishing vessels.

Lastly, Özata will build a 44.6- by 9.5-metre Danish seiner and purse seiner for Vidjenes for delivery in the second quarter of 2021. The vessel will be designed by Seacon and built according to NMA rules.
