DFFU christens freezer trawlers at Cuxhaven

Germany’s Deutsche Fischfang Union (DFFU) has christened two new freezer trawlers at Cuxhaven.

The 81.2-metre, Rolls-Royce-designed factory trawlers Cuxhaven and Berlin were built at the Kleven Myklebust yard in Norway and have started fishing.

The €80 million (US$98.1 million) investment represents the first new fishing vessels for the Samherji subsidiary since 1990.

DFFU also donated nine ship models to the Windstärke 10 Maritime Museum at Cuxhaven to show the evolution of Germany’s fishing industry over the past century.
