Turkey’s Özata Shipyard has held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new purse seiner/seine netter for Bø Havfiske of Norway.

The NSK-designed 44- by 11.5- metre vessel will be named Vikanøy and will be used to fish for herring, mackerel, cod, haddock, and pollock.

Vikanøy will replace a vessel that has been operating with Bø Havfiske since 2011.
