Norwegian seafood company Atlantic Seafish, via subsidiary Polarbris, recently acquired a new groundfish seine netter designed and built by Karstensens Skibsværft of Denmark.

The vessel, which is also named Polarbris (“Polar Breeze”), has an LOA of 43.5 metres, a moulded beam of 11.5 metres, a depth of 4.1 metres, a gross tonnage of 900, and accommodations for 12 crewmembers.

The vessel also boasts a cargo freezing system and ammonia refrigeration machinery consisting of plate freezers, flake-ice makers, and an RSW cooling system. The cargo holds are furnished with overhead air coolers for natural air circulation for storage of frozen and chilled product.

Power is provided by a Yanmar 6EY22AW 1,370kW main engine driving a Brunvoll gear and propeller arrangement.

The electronics suite includes Furuno radars, a Simrad echosounder, autopilot and sonar, an Olex 3D navigation system, Sailor VHF radios, and an Intellian satellite TV.

Design work on Polarbris was done in compliance to DNV class requirements.
