The Welsh Government has approved the deployment of the fisheries patrol vessel Rhodri Morgan to assist in the search for the missing fishing boat Nicola Faith, the UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) said on Tuesday, March 30.

Rhodri Morgan will be mobilised with a towable multi-pulse side scan sonar to enhance its ability to locate the wreckage of the fishing boat, which vanished off North Wales on January 27.

The MAIB added that a vessel operated by Natural Resource Wales has been assisting in the search effort for some time. This vessel is equipped with a high-definition side scan sonar.

The MAIB had earlier confirmed the discovery of three bodies believed to be those of Nicola Faith‘s crew as well as the missing vessel’s life raft as the search effort was expanded beyond the 77 square kilometres already covered.
