Norwegian Rig Shuttle orders MPV sister ship

Norwegian Rig Shuttle (NRS) has ordered another multi-purpose vessel (MPV) from Maritime Partner for use by the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries (NDF).

Designed to be a sister ship to inspection vessel Rind Lexo, which the Aalesund-based Maritime Partner will deliver later this month, the 21.9-metre LOA MPV is tailored to the needs of the NDF.

NRS has a five-year contract (with two one-year extensions) with the NDF from mid-2018 for Rind Lexo.

Suitable for open sea and coastal waters, the newbuild will operate primarily along the Norwegian coast within the four-nautical-mile fishing zone, and will be certified for coastal voyages.

Reaching a top speed of 20 knots, the vessel accommodates five people and will have a crew consisting of the captain from NRS and two NDF inspectors.

Featuring a galley, messroom, wardrobe and office, it is equipped with a man overboard workboat, remotely operated underwater vehicle, drone, night camera, heating cables in deck and hand rails, crane, net hauler and multiple boarding stations.

The NDF operates in an area that extends along the entire coast from the Oslo Fjord to the Varangerfjord.
