Kenyan fisheries patrol vessel completes sea trials in Bangladesh

Bangladesh-based Western Marine Shipyard has completed sea trials for Doria, a new 54-metre offshore patrol vessel.

Doria happily exceeded contract expectations, achieving a speed of 35.9 knots. She has a range of 1,500 nautical miles and fuel consumption of 3.6 tonnes per day. The vessel has 12 crew and can take 60 passengers. A helicopter deck on the back of the vessel can accommodate a five-tonne helicopter.

Designed by Icarus Marine of South Africa, the vessel owner is the Kenyan Ministry of Fisheries.

Powered by MTU engines, Doria is equipped with a Servogear Ecoflow Propulsor, and has a waterjet placed in the centre of the transom, functioning as a booster.
