Russian yard lays keel for new live crab carrier

Onezhsky Shipbuilding has laid the keel for a new vessel ordered by Russian Crab Company Group.

The newbuilding will be the third in a series of seven vessels designed specifically for catching and transporting live crab.

Design work on the vessel was provided by Damen Engineering Saint Petersburg. It will have an LOA of 57.7 metres, a beam of 12.6 metres, and a 1,260kW main engine that will deliver a speed of 12.3 knots at 85 per cent MCR.
