Kongsberg to design third wellboat in series for Sølvtrans

FISHING/AQUACULTURE WEEK

Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a NOK45 million (US$4.7 million) contract for the design of the third wellboat in a series for salmon transport and processing company Sølvtrans Rederi.

The wellboat will have an LOA of 79.9 metres, a beam of 18 metres, capacity for 4,000 cubic metres, and diesel-electric propulsion. Kongsberg will also supply the thrusters, electrical systems, and deck machinery such as winches.

Construction of the vessel will take place at the facilities of local shipyard Myklebust Verft.
