Faroe Islands-based salmon farming company Bakkafrost has placed an order for a new wellboat from Turkey’s Sefine Shipyard.

The Knud E. Hansen-designed, DP-equipped vessel will have a length of 109 metres, a beam of 22 metres, capacity to store up to 1,000 tonnes of salmon, and battery hybrid propulsion.

Completion of the wellboat is expected in 2022.
