US Coast Guard starts formal investigation into fatal capsizing of crab boat in Tillamook Bay, Oregon

The US Coast Guard has stated that a formal marine casualty investigation has been convened into a recent vessel capsizing incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

The incident involving the commercial crab fishing vessel Coastal Reign occurred last Saturday, February 20, as it was attempting to cross the Tillamook Bay Bar in Oregon with four people on board.

The Coast Guard has established an e-mail address for the public and interested parties to provide information, ask questions, and make comments related to the ongoing investigation and scheduled hearing. This e-mail will be checked regularly and all correspondence will be acknowledged.

Upon completion of the investigation, the coast guard will issue a report of investigation with collected evidence, established facts and conclusions, and recommendations regarding the marine casualty.
