Nine missing after fishing boat sinks off Brunei

The Philippine Embassy in Brunei has confirmed that nine fishermen have gone missing after their vessel sank off the coast of Brunei earlier this month.

Radims 2, a Brunei-flagged fishing vessel, had a crew of 11 on board when it capsized and sank on August 7. Philippine Embassy officials said that seven of the crew were Filipinos.

Search and rescue (SAR) operations were carried out in the area by the Brunei and Malaysian governments. However, only two of Radims 2‘s crew were rescued by the time the SAR effort was halted on Sunday, August 11.

The identities and nationalities of the two survivors have not been disclosed.
