Russian yard accepts series of longliner orders

Russia’s Severnaya Verf shipyard at St Petersburg has signed contracts to build four factory longliners as part of a series for three fishing companies.

To be built to a Marin Teknikk design, two of the 58.60-metre-long vessels are for LLC Virma, and one each for LLC Globus and LLC ArktikrybFlot.

The companies agreed to collaborate to optimise construction costs to build their vessels as a single series, which will be completed by 2022.

The longliners are expected to operate in northern waters, targeting cod and haddock.

Severnaya Verf is part of Russia’s largest shipbuilding conglomerate, United Shipbuilding Corporation.
