Russian shipyard lays keel for longliner

Russia's Severnaya Verf shipyard in St Petersburg has laid the keel of a longliner under construction for the fishing company LLC Virma.

The vessel is one of two Marin Teknikk-designed boats being built by the yard for Virma.

Gandvik-1 will have a displacement of 2.2 thousand tonnes, length of 59 metres and a width of 13 metres. 

The longliners are expected to operate in northern waters, targeting cod and haddock.

Severnaya Verf is also building two vessels of the same design for LLC Globus and LLC ArktikrybFlot.

Gandvik-1 is expected for delivery in 2020.
