Construction is expected to start soon at Poland’s Alkor Shipyard on a Navis-designed longliner reportedly ordered by Icelandic fishing company Vísir.

Scheduled to be delivered in mid-2019, the 45-metre vessel will cost Visir €7.5 million (US$8.8 million).

The Grindavík-based company operates several fishing vessels and specialises in longlining. It also processes catches at its factory.

Providing accommodation in 14 single cabins, the newbuild will feature three decks, Caterpillar engines and fishroom capacity for 420 tubs.

She is expected to replace existing longliner Páll Jónsson.
