Construction of a new series of new generation fishing processing trawlers has begun at Vyborg Shipyard. The laying ceremony for the first section of the prototype ship series was held on May 31.

The first vessel is being constructed for the Arkhangelsk trawl fleet JSC. The new series was designed with regard to operation in freezing seas, and the hull ice strengthening will enable effective operation in the Northern and Far East sea basins.

It will be fitted with powerful cargo cranes, a latest generation trawl system, and an automatic palletising system of products in the hold to minimise the time for unloading the catches. An automated plant for processing and production of fillet, fish meal plant, equipment for fish oil production and a canning plant will be installed on board the vessel.

With an RS class notation of KM(*) Ice3 AUT1 (REF) fishing vessel, the series has a length overall of 86 metres, beam of 17 metres and moulded depth of 6.75 metres, for a deadweight of almost 3,000 tonnes and speed of 15 knots.

Versatility of the design ensures that different variations of fishing and processing equipment can be mounted on the ships of the series allowing not only for the catch of bottom fish, but also pelagic species, shrimps and other species. The first ship is to be delivered to the customer by March 2019. A total of four vessels are scheduled in the series.
