Russian shipyard lays keel for Nord-Pilgrim freezer trawler

Russia’s Vyborg Shipyard has conducted a keel-laying ceremony for Nord-Pilgrim’s 80.4-metre Project КМТ02 freezer trawler. 

Designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, the 80.4-metre by 15.4-metre vessel will be used for the trawling of shrimps and deep-sea fish species, such as cod, haddock, sea perch and catfish, processing and freezing of the catch.

Powered by a main 4,640kW engine and a 600kW bow propulsion unit, it has an operating speed of 15 knots. The ship will be equipped with cargo cranes, deck machinery, radio, navigation and fish-searching equipment.

Accommodating up to 46 crew, it has a freezing hold capacity of 2,050 cubic metres and a fish flour hold capacity of 260 cubic metres.

The KM Ice3 AUT1 (REF) fishing vessel will operate in the North Atlantic Ocean, including Greenland, Canada, Iceland, Spitzbergen and the Barents Sea.
