Russian fishing firms order four longliners

Norway’s Marin Teknikk (MT) has secured a contract for the design and engineering of four new longline vessels for Russian fishing companies.

The three companies are active players in the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk region.

Powered by diesel-electric propulsion, the vessels are 58.6 metres long with a beam of 13 metres.

Accommodating 36 people, the Ice-class vessels will be built at Severnaya Verf shipyard at St Petersburg over a three-year period, under Russian flag and class.

Featuring a large freezer capacity, they will be equipped with an auto line-hauling system through a moon pool, and a fish factory for processing of fish and cannery.

They will be used to catch cod and haddock in the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea.
