Norwegian aquaculture technology specialist the Akva Group has proposed the implementation of deep fish farming as a means of solving the problem of salmon lice.

Akva believes that by lowering the net into the depth where lice do not thrive, the salmon is separated from the lice.

Akva has also partnered with pump manufacturer Framo Aquaculture to address the need to optimise collection technology and pumping solutions for dead fish.

Under the new collaboration, the two companies will jointly develop and deliver deep farming solutions to the fish farming industry in Norway and internationally. Akva will supply nets, air domes, floating collars, and other requisite technology, while Framo Aquaculture will supply its proprietary collection technology and pump solutions that transport dead fish from the bottom of the net up to the dewatering and receiving tank on the surface, on board a fleet or on land.
