Gondan Shipyard in Figueras, Spain, has launched the vessel 'Martin Sæle', the first live fish carrier built by the yard.

The 50-metre live fish carrier has a beam of 12.6 metres and has capacity to transport up to 1,000m3 of water and fish alive in her hold.

The owner of the vessel, the Norwegian company Salmon Star, will operate the vessel near the Shetland Islands, where she will transport young and adult fish between different farms along the coast, and also transport to and from the in-land fish factories and farms.

She can accommodate up to seven crewmembers and will be operated by four persons.

After the launching, the vessel was moored at the yard'́s quay where she will remain for the next few weeks until the outfitting process is complete.

After sea trials, the ship will sail towards Scotland.
