Inverlussa Marine Services of Scotland has placed orders for two 27- by 13-metre aquaculture support vessels.

The first vessel will be named Eloise Eslea and will be delivered in late September 2022, while the second vessel will be handed over late in the following December.

Inverlussa said the vessels will each have a diesel-electric propulsion system, thus ensuring optimum availability of power in every working condition besides increasing weather resilience.

The inclusion of hybrid technology and advanced battery technology will enable the vessels to either use energy from the batteries, or store energy in the batteries when surplus energy is produced from the onboard generators.

The vessels are the second and third newbuildings ordered by the Inverlussa from Netherlands-based Nauplius Workboats. The first Nauplius-built vessel in the Inverlussa fleet is Camilla Eslea, a delousing boat currently operating on a long-term charter with Mowi Scotland.
