Metal Shark begins building pilot boat for Pascagoula, Mississippi

Metal Shark Boats has begun construction on a new 16.7-metre vessel ordered by the Pascagoula Bar Pilots Association of Mississippi.

The pilot boat will be powered by two Caterpillar C18 600kW engines that will deliver a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum speed just under 30 knots.

The boat will also feature GPS, radar, a depth sounder, and a FLIR camera for nighttime operations.

Delivery is scheduled for later this year.
