New contract awards include those for windfarm support vessel deployments in Taiwan and the UK, supply vessel charters in the UK, and accommodation platform mobilisation in Norwegian waters.

Edda Wind SOV secures 12-month charter extension

Ørsted has awarded Edda Wind a 12-month extension to the charter of the service operation vessel (SOV) Edda Mistral. The vessel will now continue working for Ørsted up to the end of August 2024.

Edda Mistral has been operating in support of Ørsted at the Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm since it was built in 2018.

The extension is in direct continuation of a five-year firm charter period for the SOV.

Solstad PSVs bag five-year contracts

Solstad Offshore’s platform supply vessels (PSVs) Normand Naley and Sea Frost have been awarded five-year contracts by Equinor UK.

Both contracts will run for five years from January 2023. The contracts also include options for further extensions.

Sea Frost, which has been on contract with Equinor since 2017, will be upgraded with a battery hybrid system and shore power as part of the contract. Normand Naley is already equipped with a battery hybrid system and shore power.

P&O cable-layer to continue supporting Taiwanese offshore wind projects

P&O Maritime Logistics’ cable-lay vessel Topaz Installer has been awarded an extension to its present charter, ensuring continued work in support of the Taiwanese offshore wind market.

The vessel will operate in support of three Taiwanese wind farms until 2024. Options are also available to extend the charter to 2025.

P&O Maritime Logistics will support offshore wind activities in Taiwan in collaboration with Oslo-based Seaway 7.

Aker BP taps Floatel to support operations in Norwegian North Sea

Floatel International has been awarded a contract by Aker BP for two simultaneous projects in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea where two accommodation support vessels are required.

Both Floatel Superior and Floatel Endurance will provide offshore accommodation services for NOA Topside and the Krafla Topside, commencing following the transportation and installation of the respective topsides.

The contract will commence in mid-2026 and has firm hire periods of seven and 10 months, respectively, with several options to extend.

The contract award is subject to Aker BP obtaining plan for development and operations (PDO) approval from Norwegian authorities.

Marco Polo Marine, Vestas Taiwan ink MOU for CSOV deployment

Singapore-based Marco Polo Marine, via Taiwanese subsidiary PKR Offshore, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vestas Taiwan for the maiden deployment of its new commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV).

The CSOV will provide charter services to support the growing offshore wind farm industry in Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea, based on a minimum utilisation commitment per annum, over a three-year period.

The vessel will commence operations in the East China Sea shortly after its scheduled delivery in the first quarter of 2024.
